Final Phase
Master's thesis
The Master’s thesis forms the final component of the Master’s program and is written independently, in accordance with academic standards, on a topic within the field of European or international law. The writing period is three months, and the thesis is awarded 15 credit points. The topic of the Master’s thesis may be freely chosen in consultation with a supervising lecturer at the Europa-Institut.
It is recommended to complete the Master’s thesis toward the end of the summer semester. However, the writing period may also begin at a later point, allowing the thesis to be written alongside professional commitments if necessary. The thesis may be submitted either in German or in English.
Upon successful evaluation of the thesis by the supervising lecturer, the academic degree “Master of Laws” (LL.M.) is awarded.
