Anniversary Celebration on 20 June 2026
75 years of academic excellence. 30 years of community. One unforgettable evening.
On 20 June, we celebrated two major milestones — the 75th anniversary of the Europa-Institut and the 30th anniversary of our alumni association EVER e.V. The day began on campus with a lively Meet & Greet in the Institute’s library, where alumni reconnected with familiar faces, heard from our directors, Prof. Dr. Marc Bungenberg and Prof. Dr. Till Patrik Holterhus, about the latest developments, and rediscovered the places that shaped their time here.
In the evening, we continued the celebration at the Bel Étage in Saarbrücken with distinguished guests, including Prof. Dr. Dominik Brodowski, Vice President for Internationalization and Europe at Saarland University, Prof. Dr. Annette Guckelberger, Dean of the Faculty of Law, and Jakob von Weizsäcker, Minister of Finance and Science of Saarland. Their words of greeting honored both the Institute’s rich history and its continued relevance today. Former Federal Minister Peter Altmaier delivered an inspiring keynote address before the EVER board with Claudia Schäffner and Dr. Mareike Fröhlich also welcomed the alumni and guests and brought the official part of the evening to a close.
In the evening, the celebration continued at the Bel Étage in Saarbrücken — crémant, canapés, live music, and a room filled with people who share a deep connection to this institution.
