School Europe Day: Schule meets Europe – DOKULIVE 'Inside Robert Schuman’

Posted on

On june 23rd, more than 300 students from 7 schools across Saarland gathered at Saarland University for an extraordinary Europe Day that brought history to life.

Prof. Dr. Marc Bungenberg, Co-Director of the Europa-Institut, welcomed participants and introduced the day's programme. The days main event was a multimedia presentation by Ingo Espenschied, whose political education project DOKULIVE took students on a sweeping journey through 75 years of European integration – from its post-war origins to the present day. Despite the heat in the auditorium, he not only kept the audience engaged but led a lively Q&A session that showed just how deeply young people care about Europe's future.
In the second part, students stepped into the shoes of political decision-makers themselves, working through structured questions on real policy trade-offs around key EU challenges – with impressive engagement and nuance. The event wrapped up with an interactive Europe Quiz. Congratulations to all the winners!
The event was organised by Prof. Dr. Marc Bungenberg and his Jean Monnet Chair at the Faculty of Law of Saarland University, in cooperation with the European Documentation Centre Saarland, and with the generous support of Staatskanlei des Saarlandes.
A big thank you to everyone involved – we are delighted that so many students joined us and took part in the discussion!
