International Economic Law and AI Summer School with Students from Prince Sultan University

From 5 to 18 July 2026, the Europa-Institut at Saarland University welcomed students from the Prince Sultan University (PSU) in Riyadh for the International Economic Law and AI Summer School.

Over the course of two weeks, participants explored the legal challenges and opportunities arising from the increasing use of artificial intelligence in the global economy. The programme covered a broad range of topics, including international economic law, AI governance, international trade and investment law, EU AI regulation, digital sovereignty, intellectual property, sustainable development, human rights and competition law.

The lectures were delivered by experts from academia, international organisations and legal practice, providing participants with both theoretical perspectives and practical insights into current developments at the intersection of law and technology.

In addition to the academic programme, the Summer School included a visit to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, where participants learned about the institution's work, as well as sessions at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management and the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, focusing on digital markets and cryptocurrencies.
