SEE | EU Cluster of Excellence in European and International Law

Based on the SEE-EU Law Net, the Europa-Institut together with the Center for SEELS, the law schools from Belgrade (Serbia), Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Skopje (Republic of North Macedonia), Tirana (Albania) and Zagreb (Croatia) as well as the Europa-Institut are working to establish the "SEE | EU Cluster of Excellencein European and International Law" by the year 2020.

The program is supported by the DAAD with funds from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The aim is to establish a joint network for the cooperation and coordination of research and teaching in the area of European and international law with a special focus on EU neighboring policy.

Besides working on joint research projects and publications, the cluster targets the developing of a model curriculum in order to enable joint studies and the mutual recognition of study achievements. Within this context, eLearning modules will be developed in the areas of European and international law within the framework of Summer Schools that can be used independent of time and location at the partner universities.

Colloquia for Ph.D. students are established to support the introduction of a joint graduate college that will focus especially on the challenges of EU neighboring countries as well as European Integration. Moreover, the crossborder cooperation between libraries within the context of this network is supposed to support the establishment of literature in the area of European and international law. A future expansion to other regions and an adaptation of the network character to another region is being planned.
