The requirements for admission to the LL.M. program "European and International Law" at the Europa-Institut are as follows

• a university degree in law or in a comparable subject (business studies, humanities) from a German or foreign university and
• proof of sound knowledge of English and German (if you want to take courses in German)

Sound knowledge of English is essential for studying at the Europa-Institut. If you wish to take courses in German, you also have to provide proof of German language proficiency.

English Language Skill Verification

We accept the following as English language skill verification from candidates who are non-native English speakers:

• The TOEFL-Test (Test of English as a Foreign Language). The Europa-Institut has its own "TOEFL Code" which you can enter when taking the test. Your results will then be forwarded directly to the Europa-Institut. Our code is: 4580.
• The IELTS examination (International English Language Testing System);
• The Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE);
• Proof of a completed university degree from an English or English-speaking university;
• Proof of an assessment in English language and/or literary studies from a foreign university.

German Language Skill Verification

We accept the following as German language skill verification from candidates who are non-native speakers:

• The "Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang ausländischer Studienbewerber (DSH)";
• The "Deutsch als Fremdsprache (TestDaF)" - German as a foreign language test;
• The "Kleines Deutsches Sprachdiplom" or "Großes Deutsches Sprachdiplom", administered by the Goethe Institute;
• The "Zentrale Oberstufenprüfung (ZOP)"- Advanced Level Examination of the Goethe Institute;
• The "Deutsches Sprachdiplom Stufe II der Kultus-
  ministerkonferenz" - German Language Certificate, Level II, of the German Standing Conference of Ministers of Education and Culture;
• Proof of a completed university degree from a German or German-speaking university;
• Proof of an assessment in German language and/or literary studies from a foreign university.

Please note: The tuition fees for the Master's program European and International Law are 3.400 Euro per Semester, 6.800 Euro for the academic year. In addition to the tuition fees, there are living expenses of approx. 650 Euro per month as well as an administration fee, which must be paid to the University of Saarland per semester. Additional information can also be found on the Welcome Center website.

Please note that the Europa-Institut does not award any scholarships. An application for any of the mentioned scholarships is the sole responsibility of the student and has to be initiated and completed individually by the student.

Please note that during the visa application process, a blocked account usually has to be presented as proof of sufficient financial means. If you are coming to Germany from a non-EU or non-EEA country, you will have to use this proof of funding to confirm that you can cover your living expenses in Germany for one year. Please note that the Europa-Institut itself does not award any scholarships. An application for any of the mentioned scholarships - also for the Deutschland-Stipendien - is the sole responsibility of the student and has to be initiated and completed individually by the student.

There are two application forms available. The first form can be filled out electronically but has to be printed out and sent to us via mail. The second form can be printed out and filled in by hand and then sent to us via mail. Should you have trouble filling in the form online, please download it first and fill it out then.

• application form and 2 passport pictures
• typewritten curriculum vitae
• letter of motivation
• notarized copy of your university diploma(s)
• transcript of records
• notarized copy of your school leaving diploma
• English language certificate 
• German language certificate (applies only to non-native speakers who want to attend courses in German)

Other supporting documents (if available, e.g.: letter of recommendation from university lecturers, letters of reference for professional activities or internships etc.)
